| The
"Veerayatan" was given the Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation
Award in the year 1995 for helping thousands of tribal families
in the remote tribal areas of Bihar mainly in the fields of
medicine and education. The institution has assisted in the
rehabilitation of a large number of tribal families in these
remote areas by helping in removing alcoholism and other addictions
and by, providing medical treatment and eye treatment to a
large number of these people. The institution has also provided
vocational training in fields such as Carpentry, Pottery etc
which has resulted in the rehabilitation of lakhs of tribals.
It has also assisted a large number of tribals in securing
employment.

| The
institution has held a large number of eye camps, built an
eye hospital and arranged for eye surgeries for over 56000
patients. Other activities of the institute include running
of dispensaries, and provision of health care in distant areas
through a mobile van, running of primary schools, libraries
and propagation of Ahimsa, and brotherhood etc. By its efforts
the institute has brought about a total transformation in
certain segments of the tribal areas of Bihar.
Acharya Shri Chandanaji is the spirit behind the institution.
